About Joe

Podcast photo.
For several years, I hosted the Get Your Spirit in Shape podcast.

I’m Joe Iovino, and I’m on a mission to bridge the gap between faith and the fast-paced reality of the 21st century. As a writer, I’m passionate about sharing insights on what it means to live as a faithful follower of Jesus in today’s ever-changing world.

My journey has led me through various roles within the church, including pastor, associate pastor, youth minister, contemporary worship leader, writer, podcaster, and website editor. My diverse experiences have enriched my perspective and allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life.

Currently, I serve as the Director of Denominational Content Strategy at United Methodist Communications, based in Nashville, Tennessee. In this role, I oversee and contribute to UMC.org, the official website of the global United Methodist Church and ResourceUMC.org, the UMC’s site for church leaders.

A fun picture of Joe.
I got a Coke to share with Wesley, I assume John Wesley… Or maybe it was Charles?

Before my Nashville move, I had the privilege of serving churches in the scenic landscapes of Colorado and my home state of New Jersey.

But there’s more to me than just my professional life. I’ve been happily married to Diane since 1991, and we’re proud parents of two amazing kids. Diane serves children and their families through her work with the Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency. Our son is a gifted musician and therapist, making a positive impact in Colorado Springs, and our daughter works for the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

When I’m not immersed in my work or spending quality time with my family, you’ll likely find me channeling my Jersey roots. I’m an avid supporter of the Mets and a devoted Bruce Springsteen fan. I also relish the freedom of hitting the open road on my motorcycle.

Oh, and one more thing – I have a bit of a podcast addiction, so don’t be surprised if I drop some intriguing podcast recommendations during our conversation. And when it comes to pop culture, especially “The Simpsons,” I might just surprise you with my knowledge—especially considering my time as a youth pastor in the ’90s.

Join me on this journey of faith, discovery, and everyday adventures. Let’s explore what it means to live a meaningful life in the 21st century together!

I have just found your blog and enjoyed it. I don’t do FB anymore. Do you send your blog out in emails? If not where do I find it?
    Thank you,
